Although the photos and the form filled in on the day imply otherwise, the Hurricanes won this event taking them into the lead for the very first time in the competition. John secured the two bonus points by throwing an excellent 100 in his first visit to the oche.

The scores after nine events: Thundercats 42½, Hurricanes 47½ . Going into the final round the Hurricanes were 5 points ahead meaning they only needed to win three of the eight games in the final event to secure victory.
